What is Kali Linux ?

Kali Linux is a Debian-based Linux distribution aimed at advanced Penetration Testing and Security Auditing. Kali contains several hundred tools which are geared towards various information security tasks, such as Penetration Testing, Security research, Computer Forensics and Reverse Engineering. Kali Linux is developed, funded and maintained by Offensive Security, a leading information security training company.

Steps for Importing Saved Kali Linux appliance in Virtual Box

VirtualBox currently supports importing appliances saved in the Open Virtualization Format (OVF). That means we can import our previous version of Kali Linux with previous configuration and settings. It reduce the time of installation and configuration. These images have a default login/password of “root/toor” and may have pre-generated SSH host keys.

Step 1 : Downlaod the KALI LINUX VIRTUAL IMAGES from the official website https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-vm-vmware-virtualbox-image-download/

Step 2 : After downloading the .ova image, Launch Virtual Box Manager and click on Import icon.

Step 3 : Select your Kali Linux .ova file from the folder to be import.

Step 4 : It will display the Information of your downloaded Kali Linux version. Click on Import.

It will start importing your virtual disk image.

Step 5 : Once the Virtual Image is imported, it will show the name of installed Kali Linux in the Home, Click on the installed Kali Linux and Open it.
